I am a Partner in the Built World Practice delivering Interim talent solutions. I have spent over 20 years working across Executive and Boards in a range of housing providers, specifically in the registered provider space. I also work with associations and teams that look to improve diversity in senior leadership roles.
- What experience and expertise do you bring to your role?
-
I have spent over 20 years working predominately with Social Housing providers, focusing on finding exceptional talent from outside the sector. I was previously the Head of Interim Practice for the Social Housing team at Odgers and Real Assets practice at Boyden.
- How are you helping people to achieve their full potential?
-
I treat everyone with consistent professional respect, recognising that today’s candidate may be tomorrow’s client. I aim to provide thoughtful, honest guidance when discussing people-related challenges and solutions. Recently, I’ve been working closely with support groups to help ensure candidates from underrepresented backgrounds have equitable opportunities to succeed.
- What are your thoughts on the future of your sector?
-
The housing crisis in the UK needs many different teams, organisations and people to deliver the sheer number of new homes we need. That can also be said for countries across the EU and beyond. I can see a growing need for the very best talent for those organisations and we can be a part of the solution. Supply chain costs and the current GeoPolitical issues will have an impact on how fast we can build, but the safety of a home will be needed now more than ever.
- What do you enjoy outside of work?
-
My current favourite hobby is being tired. I have a 2-year-old who is a bundle of energy and I don’t know where the on/off switch is.
On a serious note – I love motor racing and I’ll be fanatically supporting the Ferrari F1 team as the season kicks off.
- What’s your top three podcasts/books?
-
No coincidence that they are all sports related:
The P1 Podcast
The High Performance Podcast
Favourite book(s) is ‘Formula 1 Fanatic’ by a Dutch author Koen Vergeer or ‘Working the Wheel’ by Martin Brundle
- What’s your go-to productivity trick?
-
I can get embedded in work – so having regular breaks (even a day off at the Spa with my wife) allows me to recharge the batteries and keep going.
- How do you prefer to start your day?
-
With as much coffee as possible! My toddler keeps me active…even when I don’t want to be.
- What was your first job?
-
First job was working for a chocolate factory in Telford (Staffordshire) – working on a huge conveyor belt and assembly line packing easter eggs into boxes and then into lorries.
It’s where I became a chocoholic and even now I have at least one piece of chocolate a day.
- What’s the best advice you were ever given?
-
I grew up in a fairly spiritual / religious family and we were always reminded of ‘Karma’.
What you do to and for others will always come back…and the universe has a way of finding you, so make sure it’s good…
