Backed by leading investors, the business is expanding quickly and building out its credit risk capability to support this growth.
The Opportunity
This is a hands on opportunity for an experienced SME Credit Underwriter to join a dynamic, fast paced fintech. The role goes beyond day to day underwriting and offers the chance to contribute to the wider credit function, helping to shape credit policy, influence portfolio strategy, and enhance risk processes as the business continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite SME lending applications, providing sound, commercially balanced credit decisions
- Apply independent judgement, critical thinking, and commercial awareness to every case
- Support the Head of Credit in reviewing and developing credit policy and risk appetite frameworks
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities for optimisation
- Contribute to the development of underwriting processes, credit models, and decision tools
- Work collaboratively with commercial, operations, and data teams to ensure scalable and high quality credit risk management
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in SME credit underwriting, ideally within a fintech, alternative lender, or commercial bank
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to challenge established processes when appropriate
- Experience working on broader credit risk matters such as policy development, portfolio reporting, or credit strategy would be advantageous
- An analytical, detail focused mindset with excellent problem solving skills
- Confident, clear communicator able to thrive in a fast paced, high growth business
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach
