My client, a housing association in the southeast is looking for a senior finance lead who will be responsible for the transformation of budget setting processes, and for supporting the delivery of the Value for Money (VfM) Strategy.
The organisation is undergoing significant changes in terms of department structure as well as moving to a cloud-based system which requires a change in budgeting process.
The individual will be expected to:
Lead the upcoming budget process using existing systems and processes
Transform the budget setting process as part of a new system implementation, moving from nominal to cost centre budgeting and mapping to a new chart of accounts
Manage the cultural change associated with changes in budget holder responsibilities
Redesign reporting information and processes, to mirror budget changes
Be responsible for unit and financial data within the system architecture and the creation and design of financial reporting and reconciliation to meet the business needs of the organisation.
Lead on the production of information to the Board in relation to the Strategic Programme and VfM, to include budget, business planning and forecasting.
Responsible for supporting budget holders and the Procurement Manager to ensure compliance with VfM Standard
The post holder will need to be able to explain complex financial information to colleagues and stakeholders with no financial knowledge, with ease.
Experience of housing association or local government finance is ideal, at the very least they will have operated in a sector with big capital projects. The individual will be naturally proactive, curious and will have the people skills to be a natural influencer for the cultural change piece. This role is the equivalent of ‘head of’ level so an individual who has operated as a ‘head of business partnering’ would be of particular interest.
